At D.med Homecare, we try to make everyday life easier for our patients with the help of home hemodialysis. Our patient tells us how home hemodialysis can be used, what everyday life is like and how life has changed since the switch to HHD.
D.med: Mr. B.: How did you learn about the possibility of home hemodialysis?
Patient: My treating nephrologist was aware of my professional situation.
As a farmer with over 100 farm animals, I am very dependent on the weather.
It is difficult to coordinate my farming with the dialysis times of the
dialysis station. My nephrologist then initiated the first contacts.
D.med: What does your daily routine with home hemodialysis look like now?
Patient: Now I can schedule my dialysis times freely. Depending on the weather, I dialyze in the morning or in the evening.
On my farm, a normal daily routine takes place again.
D.med: What has changed in your life since you switched to home hemodialysis?
Patient: I now lead an almost normal life again.
I don’t have to travel long distances to the dialysis unit, and I no longer have to stay in the dialysis department. It is also a great relief for the family.
My youngest son is in elementary school and still needs a lot of support.
Then he sits with me at the dialysis unit and we do schoolwork together.
We love board games, and then everyone sits with me at the dialysis unit and we play.
